Using the mouse primary sensory cortex as a model, the researcher will assist in exploring the plasticity of cortical neural circuits, as well as the impact and pathogenic mechanisms of sensory cortical dysfunction in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
1.Research Tools: Two-photon microscopy, functional calcium imaging in awake mice, animal behavioral training, mouse genetics, spatial gene expression, and immunostaining.
Note: This role involves survival surgeries, collection of in vivo samples, and other animal experiments that require the sacrifice of laboratory animals.
2.Responsibilities & Training: Independently design and conduct experiments.
(1)Technical Training: Mouse handling/surgery, image data analysis, fluorescent RNA in situ hybridization (FISH), and mouse behavioral assays.
(2) Professional Activities:
- Participate in routine lab progress reports and literature reviews.
- Mentor junior lab members.

[Agrobacterium-mediated transformation]
Research is conducted in a team-based setting. Responsibilities are adjusted according to team members’ background and experience, and relevant training is provided. Tasks involve preparation of Agrobacterium and plant materials, plant infection and transformation experiments, bioinformatics analyses of genomic and transcriptomic data to identify key genes, and molecular genetics approaches to investigate gene functions. *DNA Sequencing Techniques: Responsible for the operation and management of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and third-generation sequencing (Nanopore) platforms, including sample preparation and sequencing data analysis
*Gene Engineering and Synthetic Biology Applications: Design novel carbon-metabolism pathways and apply laboratory evolution to construct microorganisms capable of converting greenhouse gases.

Assist the research team in the following synthetic biology and metabolic engineering-related projects:

1.Carbon Capture System Design and Optimization: Use synthetic biology and metabolic biology to design and enhance the efficiency of plant carbon capture pathways.
2.Microbial Engineering and Directed Evolution: Use E. coli as a model to engineer and evolve new carbon-fixation routes, then implement them in plants or cyanobacteria to boost carbon-fixation performance.

Carbon Utilization Conversion: Use novel carbon capture model species to convert the fixed carbon sources into high-value products.

A. Bioinformatics (NGS / Nanopore Data Analysis)

*Participate in data analysis for high-throughput sequencing experiments such as Illumina/Nanopore
*Establish and maintain NGS/ONT data analysis pipelines, including:
-Quality control (QC), alignment, assembly, and variant detection
-Methylation and other modification analyses
*Write and maintain analysis code (Python/R/bash) to automate, ensure reproducibility, and facilitate handover of processes
*Work closely with experimental staff to discuss experimental design and result interpretation

B. Automation & Agent Builder (Laboratory Automation and AI Agents)

*Assist in building and maintaining laboratory automation systems, such as:
*Automated liquid handling platforms and robotic arms.
*Sensor and monitoring systems (temperature, humidity, equipment status, etc.).
*Collaborate with biological researchers to modularize experimental workflows and design reusable automated workflows.
*Develop "experimental assistant"-type AI agents, including:
*Extracting experimental parameters, workflow planning, and error checking through LLM APIs (e.g., GPT).

Integrating various control programs (Python scripts, REST APIs, MQTT, serial communication, TCP/IP, etc.).

- Conduct field sampling, mostly in roadside, urban, and agricultural environments
- Isolate, culture, and maintain rhizobia strains and associated host plants
- Perform microbiological and molecular experiments (e.g., DNA extraction, NGS library preparation, sequencing)
- Design and conduct genomic experiments and analyses
