Internships & Programs

Programs: Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP)

To keep up with the pace of today’s rapidly changing scientific and technological world, and to promote the internationalization of higher education in Taiwan, Academia Sinica established the TIGP in collaboration with key domestic research universities in 2002.

Programs: Domestic Programs

In 2008, Academia Sinica established the Degree Programs (DP) to provide a more advanced higher education environment for domestic students. Similar in design to the TIGP, the DP features close collaboration with leading domestic universities.

To promote international academic cooperation and invite foreign students, TIGP-X promotes research cooperation with international research institutes and provide scholarships for international doctoral students.

Internships: Divisional Internships

To give students from domestic universities insight into academic research, our research units and centers organize workshops and internships every year. Stipends & Scholarships

Campus-level

Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) Scholarships

To encourage international students to participate in research generally, TIGP provides President Fellowships, Research Performance Fellowships, Rising Star Fellowships, and other scholarships and stipends.

Taiwan International Graduate Program-X (TIGP-X)

To achieve substantive results in international cooperation, TIGP-X encourages international doctoral students to conduct long-term research at Academia Sinica.

Academia Sinica Supplemental Stipend Program for PhD Students

In addition to existing scholarships and stipends, this program provides a monthly supplement of NT$6,000 for 1st and 2nd year Ph.D. students, and a monthly supplement of NT$16,000 for 3rd to 5th year Ph.D. students who have passed the qualifying exams.

Elite Fellowships for Doctoral Students in the Humanities and Social Sciences

The fellowships provide incentives for doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences with outstanding academic performance and research potential to devote themselves to academic research in Taiwan.

Fellowships for Doctoral Candidates in the Humanities and Social Sciences

The fellowships are provided for doctoral candidates in the humanities and social sciences to complete their Ph.D. dissertations.

Program of Grants and Subsidies

The program provides grants and subsidies for part-time assistants and scholarship recipients.

Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences

Chow Hung-Ching Scholarship

Chow Hung-Ching scholarship fund is established in memory of the late director of the Institute of Mathematics. It aims to encourage students who wish to pursue future career in mathematics.

Division of Life Sciences

Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP)in Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Stipend

Students enrolled in 2015 and thereafter will be granted, from TIGP office, a fellowship of NT$34,000 in a total of 24 months (for 1st and 2nd years) and NT10,000 in a total of 12 months (for 3rd year).

Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) Sustainable Chemical Science and Technology Program Scholarship

Full amount of scholarship (monthly stipend) in the first academic year will be awarded to holder who has been accepted in the TIGP program. Performance evaluation is applied to determine the amount of scholarship awarded in the second and third years.

Chang Chao-Ting Summer Research Fellowship

The fellowship is provided for outstanding participants of the Summer Internship Program in the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences.

Division of Humanities and Social Sciences

Fu Si-Nian Scholarship

In honor of the late director of the Institute of History and Philology Fu Si-nian, Academia Sinica provides the scholarship for outstanding National Taiwan University (NTU) students in the humanities.

Hu Shih Scholarship

Since 2012, Hu Shih Memorial Hall has been providing the scholarship for eligible applicants to encourage students to engage in the study of modern history.

Comprehensive Employment System

Academia Sinica emphasizes the long-term cultivation of talent and provides stable employment terms for researchers. Various regulations are in place to protect the rights and interests of researchers and research specialists. Dormitories & Kindergarten & Daycare Center

To recruit young talent and encourage researchers to focus on their research, Academia Sinica provides dormitories for international graduate students, and has established a kindergarten and daycare center to provide full range of childcare services.

Academia Sinica Counseling Center (ASCC)

In an effort to care for the emotional and mental wellbeing of all staff members, ASCC is founded in 2020. The main purpose of the ASCC is to provide mental health support and crisis management to all staff members of Academia Sinica, thereby improving personal wellbeing and work performance.

Club Activities

Academia Sinica has a wide range of club activities, including language, sports, recreational, mental and spiritual clubs. In recent years, we have organized baseball, badminton and table tennis games for colleagues to participate in and enjoy.

Museums & Sports Facilities

Academia Sinica has several museums open for colleagues and visitors, including the Hu Shih Memorial Hall, Museum of Institute of History and Philology, Museum of the Institute of Ethnology, Lingnan Fine Arts Museum, and Ecological Exhibition Center. Our gymnasium is equipped with basketball courts, tennis courts, badminton courts, aerobics rooms, fitness room, jogging track, and swimming pool.
