Molecular Mechanisms of Genome Stability
The Liang Laboratory at the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Academia Sinica, investigates the molecular mechanisms that preserve genome integrity during DNA replication and DNA repair. We combine structural biology, biochemistry, cell biology and functional genomics using state-of-the-art experimental approaches to understand how cells respond to replication stress, repair damaged DNA and maintain chromosome integrity. Our goal is to uncover fundamental mechanisms of genome maintenance while identifying new therapeutic opportunities for cancer.
Current research areas include:
• Break-induced replication (BIR)
• Holliday junction processing
• DNA replication stress
• Alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT)
Why Join the Liang Laboratory?
Members of the Liang Laboratory will have the opportunity to:
• investigate fundamental questions in genome stability with broad implications for human health and disease
• develop expertise across structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and functional genomics
• receive close scientific mentorship while developing independence and leading their own research projects
• collaborate with leading researchers in Taiwan and internationally
• present their work at international conferences and publish in leading international journals
We are committed to fostering an open, collaborative and supportive research environment where members are encouraged to think critically, develop their own ideas and grow into independent scientists.
