The Institute of Biological Chemistry (IBC) at Academia Sinica, Taiwan (www.ibc.sinica.edu.tw) seeks outstanding candidates to fill tenure-track faculty positions. While our primary focus is on hiring at the Assistant Research Fellow level, we also welcome applications from more experienced candidates, including those at the Research Fellow level. The Institute has a long tradition of excellence in research at the biology/chemistry interface, in particular protein biochemistry, structural biology, glycoscience and the study of other post-translational modifications. In this search, we are seeking candidates whose research interests complement existing research programs in the Institute. Individuals with expertise in quantitative or computational biology who are able to address the dynamics and complexity of biochemical problems are of particular interest. Experience integrating AI-based technologies into research projects is also highly desired. However, candidates with any relevant research programs will be considered. The chosen candidates will receive an appointment at the Institute of Biochemical Sciences, National Taiwan University (ibs.ntu.edu.tw), along with substantial start-up funds, ongoing intramural support, and full access to all shared resources in Academia Sinica. Application materials should include: 1) A cover letter with the names of three referees who will write on the applicant’s behalf; 2) A curriculum vitae; 3) A statement of research accomplishments; and 4) A proposal for future research. Application materials should be combined into a single PDF file and sent to the Chair of Recruitment Committee, c/o Ms. Pei-Ru Liao (email: prliao@gate.sinica.edu.tw). 【Research Focus】
The Lab for Cell Dynamics (LCD) at Academia Sinica explores the biological functions of large-scale cell death during embryonic development, integrating advanced quantitative and imaging techniques. Our recent work (PMID: 38987590) reveals how developmental signals prime cells for death and how this process might influence aging. We invite passionate junior scientists to join our team to investigate:
1.How developmental cues orchestrate cell death during development.
2.The potential link between developmental death signaling and the aging process.

My lab at the Institute of Molecular Biology (IMB), Academia Sinica, focuses on the rapid evolution of essential genes and chromosome structures. We are particularly interested in the paradox of how genes and chromosomal features critical for survival and reproduction, typically expected to be evolutionarily conserved, can instead evolve rapidly under strong positive selection. To investigate this, we integrate genetics, genomics, and cytology to uncover the causes and consequences of this phenomenon.

We are seeking 1 postdoctoral researcher to conduct and lead research projects. Candidates will earn authorship on resulting publications and will be strongly encouraged to develop and lead independent projects. Successful candidates will have opportunities to attend international conferences and visit collaborator labs in US or Canada. I’m strongly committed to supporting career development and mentorship for all team members.

Responsibilities:

Lead and contribute to research projects, including international collaborations
Draft and revise manuscripts for publication; assist in grant writing
Develop and pursue independent research directions
Mentor junior lab members
Present data at lab meetings and provide regular project updates
Maintain weekly progress reports on experiments and analysis

本實驗室致力於運用分子生物學的方法,研究快速演化的基因與染色體結構。我們對於具有重要功能的基因與染色體結構在演化上理應高度保守,卻仍觀察到快速演化的現象感到好奇,並希望進一步理解背後的機制與演化動力。我們目前的研究發現自私的基因可以解釋部分這些現象。我們的研究將針對這些矛盾現象進行系統性探討,並結合不同層次的實驗方法深入剖析其生物學意涵。 本實驗室將於 2025 年 10 月正式成立,現誠徵博士後助理新實驗室進行主導,並發展獨立研究計畫,並有機會參與論文發表並獲得作者資格。我將會視情況提供參與國際研討會或參與國外合作者實驗室的機會。我將提供職涯發展的建議及協助。 工作內容: -主導獨立規劃並執行研究計畫 -撰寫論文並協助申請研究計劃 -鼓勵發展獨立研究計劃 -帶領並指導年輕實驗室成員 -參與實驗室會議並定期報告研究進度 -每週更新實驗進展

張志禎實驗室預計於 2025 年 8 月從英國倫敦的 Francis Crick Institute 遷至台灣中央研究院基因體研究中心(GRC),現正招募充滿熱情與創造力的研究人員加入我們的團隊。在此您將與一群對癌症研究與代謝領域充滿熱情的博士後研究員與博士生共事,並可使用基因體研究中心及中研院其他單位的尖端研究技術與資源。

我們的研究目標是了解癌細胞如何與其周圍微環境,以及遠端的宿主組織與器官進行溝通,以調節腫瘤的代謝壓力與氧化還原平衡,進而促進腫瘤生長與轉移,重點聚焦於胰臟癌(相關發表:Cheung et al. PNAS 2024, Cheung and Vousden Nat Rev Cancer 2022, Cheung et al. Cancer Cell 2020, Cheung et al. Genes Dev 2016, Cheung et al. Developmental Cell 2013)。我們運用功能性基因體學、代謝體學、體外類器官模型、癌症動物模型及單細胞定序等技術來揭示疾病新機制與潛在治療標的。我們的研究致力於發展針對癌細胞與宿主組織的新穎策略,以期達成更精準且系統性的癌症治療。
