    4. Work Content

      We are seeking 1-2 M.S.-level research associates to join us in dissecting the
      mechanisms and consequences of fungal-bacterial competition. We focus on the
      interaction between Pseudomonas species and fungal plant pathogens. Using
      ecological, functional genomic, and genetic approaches, we aim to determine whether
      bacterial defense mechanisms are specific or general against multiple fungi, and vice

      Research topics
      1. Functional genomic investigation of fungal or bacterial defense genes
      2. Ecology and sampling of Pseudomonas species and interacting fungi in the wild
      3. Co-evolutionary consequences of competing fungi and bacteria
      Job description:
      1. Lead and execute a small-scale independent research project.
      2. Present data at the lab meeting and provide weekly research updates
      3. Participate in joint lab meetings and journal clubs

      This position is ideal for someone who seeks graduate-level training and have strong
      interest in microbial ecology and genetics. This position is open until filled

    5. Qualifications

       M.S. in biology, microbiology, or a related discipline
       Experience in molecular cloning and microbial genetics is highly desirable
       Experience in working with plant-related pathogens is favored
       Ability to perform clean, contamination-free experiments
       Strong verbal and written communication skills
       Superior organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
       Accurate record-keeping and data documentation
       Ability to work as a team member
       Positive, adaptable, and self-motivated attitude

      Preferred requirements:
       Highly organized and responsible
       Patience, independence, and strong interest in exploring novel biology
