Nature Awards invites researchers from all disciplines to participate in "Science in Shorts 2027," a global science communication challenge that encourages researchers to present their research in creative and engaging 1-minute vertical videos in English. The challenge aims to help the general public understand scientific research and why it matters. Entries may be submitted by individuals or teams.
The challenge is open to researchers worldwide who are employed by a university or research institution, hold an advanced degree such as an MSc, PhD or MD, and have authored at least one original research article published in a peer-reviewed journal after 12 August 2024.
Videos that meet the organiser's basic threshold will be included in the "Science in Shorts" video library on nature.com and made available to audiences worldwide. Up to 10 outstanding videos will be selected, each receiving a €5,000 prize. The selected videos will also premiere at the Curious2027 – Future Insight conference in July 2027.
The submission deadline is 2 December 2026. Interested researchers are encouraged to submit their entries through the official online submission portal. For further information, please visit the competition website.
