Academia Sinica’s Excellent Academic Environment Fosters Young Scholars — Taiwan International Graduate Program held the 20th Certificate Conferral Ceremony

Academia Sinica held the 20th certificate conferral ceremony for this year’s graduates of the Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP) on December 15th, 2025. This year, a total of 48 graduates from 14 countries and regions received their TIGP Certificates from Academia Sinica Vice President Dr. Mei-Yin Chou at the ceremony.

 

For the graduates who participated in the commencement ceremony, there were 17 from India, 13 from Taiwan, 6 from the Philippines, 4 from Malaysia, 2 from Indonesia, 1 from Albania, 1 from Bangladesh, 1 from Egypt, 1 from Tibet, 1 from Mongolia, 1 from Nigeria, 1 from Pakistan, 1 from Vietnam, and 1 from Yemen.

 

This year’s conferral ceremony attendees include 10 graduates from the Nano Science and Technology (NANO); 6 graduates from the Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB); 5 graduates from the Chemical Biology and Molecular Biophysics (CBMB); 5 graduates from the Molecular and Biological Agricultural Sciences (MBAS); 5 graduates from the Social Networks and Human-Centered Computing (SNHCC); 4 graduates from the Biodiversity (BIODIV); 4 graduates from the Earth System Science Program (ESS); 4 graduates from the Molecular Medicine (MM); 2 graduates from the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience (INS); 2 graduates from the Sustainable Chemical Science and Technology (SCST); and 1 graduate from the Molecular Science and Technology (MST).

 

Currently, there are 13 Ph.D. programs in TIGP. Including this year’s graduates, a total of 956 students have completed the TIGP program’s rigorous requirements and received TIGP certificates to date. Each year, many students in the programs publish papers in top international scholarly journals, and many alumni go on to take up positions in world-renowned institutions.

 

Launched in 2002, the TIGP program integrates cutting-edge interdisciplinary research topics, first-class facilities, top-notch faculty, and a multicultural environment at Academia Sinica into a learning environment where English is the primary language. Currently, the program has 598 students enrolled in thirteen Ph.D. programs, with many students coming from overseas, representing 42 different countries.

 

TIGP is run by Academia Sinica in collaboration with Taiwan’s leading research universities: National Tsing Hua University, National Taiwan University, National Central University, National Chung Hsing University, National Yang-Ming Chiao Tung University, National Defense Medical University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Cheng Kung University, National Chengchi University, and Tunghai University. The certificate is conferred by Academia Sinica, in addition to the diploma awarded by the collaborating university.
