Date: 2026-01-29

Dr. Pang-Yen Chang received his PhD from the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Oxford. Prior to this, he completed medical training in environmental and occupational medicine at National Taiwan University Hospital. He is interested in the history of science, the history of medicine and public health, and science and technology studies (STS). His work primarily concerns the development of the human sciences in modern East Asia.

Over the past decade, Dr. Chang has explored how modern science shaped Chinese people’s mental landscapes and self-understanding.
