Jung Chen received her PhD in Sociology from the University of Cambridge in 2024. Her research interests are medical sociology, gender studies, social studies of reproduction, and LGBTQ+ studies. Her work concerns the dynamics and coproduction of medical technologies and social norms, as well as the intersection of sexual identities and social inequality. More specifically, she explores (1) Taiwanese gay men’s transnational reproductive trajectories and practices, (2) the stratification in third-party reproduction, and (3) Cross-Strait Tongzhi couples’ intimacy and family-making in the context of sociolegal changes and geopolitics.
