The 5th meeting of the 25th Academia Sinica Council was convened today (December 13) for the selection of candidates for the 13th President of Academia Sinica.

When the Council reached this agenda item, the attending Council Members elected a temporary Chairperson first, in accordance with the Regulations for Presidential Searches for Academia Sinica. The spokesperson of the Presidential Search Committee then reported to the Council on the progress of the search process, presented the recommended list of presidential candidates and the rationale for the recommendations.

After thorough discussion among the attending Council Members and consideration of all the opinions expressed, the Council conducted anonymous ranked-choice voting as stipulated in the search regulations. Three candidates with the highest rankings were successfully selected. Academia Sinica will submit the results to the Presidential Office for selection and appointment by the President of the R.O.C., in accordance with the Organization Act of Academia Sinica.
