Life below Turtle Island - Interkindom symbiotic partnership between crabs and microbes for energy generation

The collaborative team led by Dr. Yung-Che Tseng from the Marine Research Station of Institute of Cellular and Organismic Biology, Academia Sinica, found that the Xenograpsus testudinatus at the shallow-water hydrothermal vent off Turtle Island may form a "marine holobiont" with bacteria through cellular metabolism to thrive extreme environment. This Interkindom adaptability study was published in January 2023 in the “Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences” and addressed in Nature's "Research Highlights".
