The pathogenesis of Alzheimer's Disease comprises multiple factors, such as amyloid plaque, hyperphosphorylated tau oligomers, microglia dysfunctions, and neuronal senescence plus reactive oxygen stress (ROS). A better understanding of these pathogenic factors and the development of in-vivo imaging detection methods will help monitor the disease progression and patient selection for therapeutic trials. This presentation will discuss potential applications in imaging the brain ROS in vivo (FEDV-PET) and how dysfunctional microglia may alter cerebral blood flow and cerebrovascular reactivity (CBF/CVR) in preclinical studies.
