Abstract

First I will introduce the basic ideas of the light-front quantization and explain why it serves an optimal framework for studying the structure of relativistic bound states. Then I will introduce a nonperturbative approach based on the light-front Hamiltonian framework named Basis Light-front Quantization (BLFQ). In BLFQ one obtains the structure of relativistic bound states through solving the eigenvalue problem of the input light-front Hamiltonian. Next, I will illustrate how BLFQ works through an application to the proton system, where we calculate the proton structure from QCD first principles. Finally I will show the resulting three-dimensional structure of the proton in terms of the experimental observables such as its electromagnetic form factors and various kinds of parton distribution functions of the quarks, antiquarks and gluons inside the proton.
