The Dr. Hu Shih Memorial Chair Professorship was established to recognize research staffs of Academia Sinica in the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences for their outstanding research achievements and significant impacts on society or academic community. There will be only one awardee of this professorship in the year of 2025. The awardee will be given a cash prize of $450,000 NTD, and be invited to present as keynote speaker at the Lecture in Honor of Late President Hu Shih in 2026.
Eligible applicants must hold the position of Associate Research Fellow or above at Academia Sinica, with their research focus on humanities primarily. Three ways of nomination can be accepted as follows: (1) self-nomination; (2) nominated by the research institutes or centers of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences at Academia Sinica; or (3) nominated by the Hu Shih Memorial Research Lectureship Review Committee.
Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae in both Chinese and English, list of publications, research proposal (with English abstract), three representative publications in the past 10 years. Applicants can declare conflict of interest (COI) and provide name list at their discretion.
This award is available to online application only. Applicants should log in the Academic Service Management System, Academic Sinica (https://asms.sinica.edu.tw/) and complete application by July 14, 2025. Overdue applications will not be processed. If individual applicants’ representative publication is a monograph, three copies of it should be provided to the Department of Academic Affairs and Instrument Service.
