Academician Tuan-Hua David Ho Received the 2024 Charles Reid Barnes Life Membership Award from the American Society of Plant Biologists

Academia Sinica Academician Tuan-Hua David Ho has been honored with the 2024 Charles Reid Barnes Life Membership Award from the American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB). This prestigious award aims to recognize outstanding contributors to the field of plant biology. Dr. Ho has received this international recognition for his significant research contributions on phytohormones, plant stress responses, and biofuels, as well as his dedication to science education and community service.

The American Society of Plant Biologists is one of the most influential societies in the field of plant biology globally. Dr. Ho served as its President from 2009 to 2010. The society is committed to promoting research and education in plant science and has long been involved in various global issues related to botany and agriculture, including food security, genetically modified crops, crop yield, bioenergy, environmental protection, and sustainable development. The Charles Reid Barnes Life Membership Award is the oldest award in the history of the American Society of Plant Biologists, established in 1925, with a century-long tradition of honoring scientists who have made meritorious contributions to the field of plant biology. It is awarded to distinguished scholars aged 60 and above, providing them with life membership.

This award acknowledges Dr. Ho’s remarkable achievements and recognizes his long-standing dedication and contributions to plant science research. This accolade also enhances the visibility of Academia Sinica and Taiwan in the international academic community.
