Distinguished Research Fellow Dr. Mark Liao has won the 23rd TECO Award of Electrical Engineering, Information, and Telecommunications Technology on November 5th, 2016. Dr. Mark Liao has conducted extensive research on multi-media image processing, an area of enormous potential to industry and society in general. Dr. Liao has worked to develop cocktail watermarking techniques used for digital image protection, facial recognition surveillance techniques essential to anti-terrorist efforts, and content-based multi-media retrieval techniques used for the National Digital Archives Program (NDAP). Dr. Liao has made unrelenting efforts to develop a range of technologies to safeguard intellectual property, as well as design defence and detection technologies against a range of modern threats and contingencies.
To attract extensive attention of technology innovation and humanity care from the society and upgrade the quality of domestic research on technology and humanity as well, TECO Award encourages those who have practical outstanding contributions, creations or deeds by offering each winner a trophy and NTD800,000 scholarship.
