「2016 Yu Ying-Shih Prize for Humanities Research」Prize Announcement

 In aim of providing financial support to young scholars to write monographic books or doctoral theses, the Tang Prize Foundation has commissioned the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica, to implement the Yu Ying-Shih Prize for Humanities Research on an annual basis for the period between 2015 and 2020. After careful review, the 2016 list of awardees have been determined and are listed as follows. The award ceremony is scheduled at 9:30 a.m., December 29th, 2016, at the Institute of History and Philology.

◎Monographic Book Prize: Each awardee will receive a prize of NTD $360,000 and a souvenir

Ihsi Chang (Associate Professor, Department of humanities and Social Sciences, National Chiao-Tung University)
Research plan: Yangming learning, literature renaissance and the societies of eight-legged essay: on Jiangxi province in the 17th century

Hsiao-ching Liao (Postdoctoral Fellow, Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica)
Research plan: The Fabrication of Divine Prestige: The Making of the He Xiangu Cult and Local Society along the Zeng River in Guangdong
       (960-1864)

◎Doctoral Thesis Prize: Each awardee will receive a prize of NTD $240,000 and a souvenir

Chijui Hu (6th year doctoral student, Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, Harvard University)
