The Reminiscences of Lee, Ching-ping

Lee, Ching-ping, born in 1946 in Beiping (now Beijing), hails from Guangdong Province. He graduated from the Graduate Institute of International Affairs at National Chengchi University and previously served at the Central Committee of the Kuomintang. In 1975, he moved to Washington, D.C., USA, where he engaged in party affairs and organized activities for overseas students. In 1986, he became the head of the cultural affairs division at the coordination council for North American Affairs in Washington,D.C. Starting in May 1992, he served as the Deputy Secretary-General of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), managing activities such as the Koo-Wang talks. In 1998, he transitioned to become the General Manager of China Broadcasting Corporation. This interview provides a detailed account of the contentious "1992 Consensus" in today's cross-strait relations, as well as the preparations and conduct of the Koo-Wang talks in Singapore, offering significant historical documentation.
