Promenade of Data Science 2024 — Data Science Storytelling Challenge: Beyond Predictions

We are launching a groundbreaking Data Science Storytelling Challenge aimed at fostering scientific reasoning and enhancing educational outcomes within data science programs in Taiwan. Unlike traditional competitions that focus primarily on predictive accuracy, our challenge emphasizes the importance of crafting a compelling narrative around data.
We propose to begin by launching this competition domestically, allowing participants to use any tools they prefer, whether conventional statistical methods or AI/machine learning techniques. The central focus of this competition is on "Learning From Data Elaborately and Liberally." Our goal is to highlight the depth and breadth of understanding that can be achieved through thoughtful and open-minded data analysis.
We plan to evaluate all submissions online and invite a final list of, say, five teams to present their work in a small workshop. Additionally, we may allow other qualified participants to display their results as posters or give short flash presentations, perhaps 10 minutes each. This could be a half-day event, utilizing our B1 seminar room and the first-floor lobby. We envision it as a progressive version of a traditional poster competition.
