- Academia Sinica (AS) has established the Review Committee for Institution-wide Research Specialists (the Committee) to perform performance evaluation of institution-wide research specialists in accordance with Article 23 of the Employment Review Guidelines for Academia Sinica Research Specialists.
- The matters reviewed by the Committee are:
- New appointments, renewals, and promotions of institution-wide research specialists.
- Annual academic research performance assessment levels of institution-wide research specialists, initially evaluated by their direct supervisors and subsequently confirmed by the employing units.
- The Committee consists of five ex officio members: the Executive Secretary of Central Academic Advisory Committee (also the convener), three Deputy Executive Secretaries, and the Director of the Department of Academic Affairs and Instrument Service. The convener may recommend the addition of two or three research fellows familiar with the roles of institution-wide research specialists as committee members, subject to approval by the President of AS.Committee members serve a term of three years and may be reappointed for consecutive terms.
- Before convening meetings for review, the convener shall provide the committee members with the review materials of the appointment cases or academic research performance assessment for reference; if necessary, the direct supervisors or employing unit heads of the research specialists may be invited to attend the meeting to provide explanations.
- When voting on new appointments, renewals, or promotions, an anonymous voting method shall be used. Approval requires the presence of at least two-thirds of the total number of committee members and agreement from more than half of the attending members.
- Matters not covered by these guidelines shall be handled in accordance with the Employment Review Guidelines for Academia Sinica Research Specialists.
