Overview
We are seeking 1–2 postdoctoral fellows to join our lab in studying polymicrobial
interactions and host–microbe interactions with agricultural relevance. Our research
integrates comparative genomics, ecological sampling, microbial genetics, and
functional assays to understand how fungi, bacteria, and phages interact within
polymicrobial communities and how these interactions influence microbial pathogenesis
in plant hosts.
Our lab has strong expertise in functional genomics and experimental evolution, using
bottom-up approaches to address these questions. We welcome postdoctoral
researchers with complementary interests—such as plant immunity, evolutionary
genomics, or microbial ecology—to join our team. This position is ideal for recently
graduated PhD scientists who are passionate about microbial interactions and aspire to
pursue a faculty position in academia.

We are seeking 1-2 M.S.-level research associates to join us in dissecting the
mechanisms and consequences of fungal-bacterial competition. We focus on the
interaction between Pseudomonas species and fungal plant pathogens. Using
ecological, functional genomic, and genetic approaches, we aim to determine whether
bacterial defense mechanisms are specific or general against multiple fungi, and vice

The Tsai laboratory is looking for highly motivated talents to help us unveil how RNA modifications impact RNA biology. Successful applicants may aid in the following potential projects:
- Elucidate how intracellular Adenosine metabolism may regulate RNA methylation rates, in turn impacting Neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease model systems, in a collaboration with Yijuang Chern, Yi-Shuian Huang and others. This project involve the development and adaptation of new RNA modification detection methods, which may utilize the latest in Nanopore direct RNA-seq, Illumina RNA-seq, UPLC-tandem mass spectrometry, as well as more traditional molecular biology techniques.
- Explore how RNA modifications on viral and small RNAs in mosquito and monkey samples may impact the zoonotic virus reservoir within these animals that may spread to humans, in collaboration with Shin-Ru Shih. This project mainly utilizes Nanopore direct RNA-seq, though may not be limited to this technique.
- Elucidate how RNA modifications facilitate the replication, gene expression, and antiviral factor avoidance of Hepatitis B virus. This is a curiosity driven project that is not tied to any specific technique.
- General Nanopore direct RNA-seq bioinformatics analysis in support of any of the above projects.

- 細胞內Adenosine濃度對RNA甲基化的影響,而此機制如何影響阿茲海默症相關的神經退化:本計畫為與陳儀莊、黃怡萱老師及相關團隊之合作計畫。研究內容包含開發與優化最新的RNA修飾檢測技術,可能採用 Nanopore direct RNA-seq、Illumina RNA定序、超高效液相層析串聯質譜儀(UPLC-MS/MS)以及傳統分子生物學技術。
- 蚊子與猴子樣本中病毒及small RNA 修飾之研究: 本計畫與施信如老師合作,探討 RNA 修飾如何影響這些動物宿主體內的人畜共通病毒以及其向人類傳播的潛力。研究技術以 Nanopore direct RNA-seq為主。
- B型肝炎病毒(HBV)之 RNA 修飾: 釐清 RNA修飾如何協助B型肝炎病毒的複製、基因表現與逃避抗病毒因子之機制。此計畫所需技術依實驗結果而定不限於特定實驗技術。
- 針對Nanopore direct RNA-seq之生物資訊分析(可能協助以上所有計畫)。
