Abstract

The detection of GW170817 demonstrated that gravitational-wave observations provide a powerful probe of neutron star interiors. Neutron star cores are of particular interest, as they contain cold, ultra-dense matter whose properties remain highly uncertain. The Cosmic Explorer, a next-generation gravitational-wave detector, is expected to observe on the order of 100 neutron star merger events per year with an order-of-magnitude improvement in sensitivity over current detectors. In this talk, I will explore the potential of Cosmic Explorer to constrain the neutron star equation of state.
