Total fertility rates have been lower than 1 child over the past years in Taiwan, which are among the lowest globally. Public understandings about the underlying causes are not always precise and relevant policies mis-targeted. This talk will explore the causes of low fertility and the life circumstances of young adults in Taiwan, along with the continuity and changes in family values and behaviors in recent years. Potential improvements in current policies will also be discussed.
