The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in Japan had supported so-called core universities to develop infrastructures to accelerate translational research (TR) (discovery and development of seeds based on the results of advanced and highly advanced basic research as well as needs from clinical sites at universities, etc., and development from pre-clinical trials to clinical trials, for 15 years in Japan). In 2021, MEXT started to certify institutions that meet certain requirements among the TR support functions of universities, etc., as "TR support institutions". Dr. Sugiyama's team has engaged in developing bio-active peptide expanding hematopoietic stem cells and been supported with several TR projects over 15 years. In this speech, Dr. Sugiyama will introduce translational process of bio-active peptide using Target Product Profile (TPP), a planning tool for therapeutic candidates.
