According to the Presidential Office’s Personnel Order of March 15, 2021, Academia Sinica President James C. Liao has been reappointed to serve for a second term from June 21, 2021 to June 20, 2026. President Liao has in turn reappointed Academicians Mei-Yin Chou, Fu-Tong Liu, and Chin-shing Huang to continue serving as Vice Presidents for the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Division of Life Sciences, and Division of Humanities and Social Sciences respectively.

President Liao expressed his gratitude for the three Vice Presidents’ hard work during the past five years, particularly in enhancing Academia Sinica’s growth. During these trying times, with AS dedicated to playing its part in pandemic prevention and applying basic research to practical uses, it is all the more essential that their talents develop to their fullest fruition.

Research at Academia Sinica covers the Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Division of Life Sciences, and Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. The AS President appoints Academicians with outstanding scholarly achievements and administrative experience from each Division as Vice President nominees for Presidential appointment.
