Using ancient minerals as particle detectors has been proposed as a competitive and complementary approach to conventional direct detection experiments for probing new physics.
In this talk, I will discuss how ancient minerals can preserve evidence of new physics, such as dark matter recoils and interactions of neutrinos beyond the Standard Model, in the form of damage tracks accumulated over millions to billions of years. I will also discuss how simulations can help further refine the accuracy of these analyses. Finally, I will explore the potential of ancient minerals to probe invisible neutron decay.
