摘要：

Since the late 1980s, Chinese farmers have become an integral part of the emerging agrarian capitalism in the Russian Far East. In the 2010s, as the direct producers, they were at the centre of a production regime that relied on flexible farming of crops (mainly soybean but also corn and rice), vegetables and pigs. Though this production regime was identified as “Chinese” (“Chinese greenhouses”, “Chinese fields”, “Chinese pig farms”), it was highly embedded in local communities. The talk discusses mechanisms that made “Chinese farming” flexible, the politics of Chineseness in agriculture of the regions bordering China, and the challenges of COVID-19.
