AS Conference 2025: A Cross-Disciplinary Breakthrough

Date: 2025-06-23

From June 30 to July 3, Academia Sinica will launch its first-ever AS Conference 2025, bringing together all institutes and research centers for a landmark academic event. President James C. Liao emphasized the goal of fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue and strengthening ties with both domestic and international scholars to better address complex scientific and societal challenges and to attract top global talent. The Conference will be held every two years, alternating with the Convocation of Academicians. Faculty members and students from Academia Sinica and universities are cordially invited to participate and explore innovative ideas together.

President Liao will open the Conference with a keynote titled "Decoding Academia Sinica: Its Philosophy, Strategy, and Recent Progress." In his speech, he will present the guiding philosophy, strategic goals, and development approach of Academia Sinica. He will also elaborate on how institutional mechanisms have been thoughtfully designed to support these objectives, fostering an environment where researchers are able to achieve significant academic accomplishments. Following the keynote, each morning will feature four plenary talks, with a total of 16 sessions throughout the four-day conference. These talks will explore cutting-edge themes such as neuroscience, quantum computing, hepatitis research, regenerative medicine, blockchain, East Asian culture, Taiwan’s fertility trends, and international affairs. These diverse themes span three academic divisions of Academia Sinica: Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Humanities and Social Sciences.

Afternoon sessions will include 56 parallel events, featuring academic talks, roundtable discussions, workshops, and interdisciplinary exchanges. The AS Conference emphasizes both scholarly excellence and cross-field communication, encouraging speakers to present their research in a way that is accessible to scholars from diverse academic backgrounds without compromising academic rigor.

No registration needed.
