Statement about COVID-19 Cases at Academia Sinica, March 22, 2020:
According to information released by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) during its press conference today (March 22), four Academia Sinica colleagues from the same workplace have been diagnosed with COVID-19, a cluster of cases that originated with one individual having returned from a trip abroad. As of today, the entire building housing this workplace has been thoroughly sterilized. In addition, all workplace members will be quarantined for two weeks beginning March 23. Offices will reopen when all concerns about possible contagion have been fully resolved.
Academia Sinica is doing its utmost to assist the CECC in tracking down all individuals who had contact with colleagues who fell ill, and will provide all necessary information. AS will also continue to monitor the situation, while offering guidance and support to our colleagues. All outside contacts and exchanges will be conducted according to the principles of epidemic prevention. In response to this outbreak of COVID-19, apart from the measures already announced on March 20-21 (https://www.sinica.edu.tw/en/articles/373), effective tomorrow (March 23) colleagues will begin to work from home or in separate office spaces, and a hotline will be set up to provide relevant information for all members of the AS community.
