Young Economists from Taiwan Invited for 7th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences

Date: 2022-08-22

Young Taiwanese economists to join the 7th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences for the first time! Originally scheduled for August 2020 and postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 7th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences will be held August 23-27, 2022. While the annual Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings are held with alternating disciplinary focuses each year, the Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences takes place every three years. This summer, 330 young economists and 19 laureates will participate.

Dr. Josie I Chen and Dr. Chun-che Chi will attend as the Taiwanese economics delegation. Dr. Chen is an Associate Professor at National Taiwan University. Her research focuses on applied microeconomics, behavioral economics, and experimental economics. Dr. Chi is an Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of Economics, Academia Sinica. His research focuses on finance, international macroeconomics, and monetary economics. Having successfully passed the multi-stage international review process, they will be the first Taiwanese delegates to join the meeting.

Since 1951, the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting has become a unique international forum for scientific debate and exchange between Nobel Laureates and young scientists. Its annual theme alternates between the three Nobel Prize scientific disciplines— Chemistry, Physics, and Physiology (Medicine). Designed to motivate and inspire young scholars, the annual meetings facilitate open discussion and controversial reflections, and encourages dialogue across generations, cultures, and disciplines. In 2017, Academia Sinica signed a MOU with the Lindau Council and the Lindau Foundation to become an academic partner of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
