緣起Themes

酷兒華語語系研究與地緣政治的問題（Queer Sinophone Studies and the Question of Geopolitics）工作坊，聚焦於酷兒理論、華語語系（Sinophone）研究，以及亞太區域地緣政治動態的多重交織性，特別關注臺灣、香港、中華人民共和國、美國及其他地區。本次跨領域的工作坊將集結人類學、社會學、心理學、歷史、媒體研究及文化研究等領域的學者，共同探討在地緣政治緊張局勢加劇的背景下，新興酷兒與跨性別主體性的形成。作為一種批判性框架，華語語系酷兒研究（Queer Sinophone Studies）顛覆了以「中國中心」（Sinocentrism）及北美性／別研究模式為主導的典範，為重新思考知識生產提供了重要的工具與平台。本次工作坊以地緣政治作為關鍵議題，剖析國家間與區域間的權力競逐——尤其牽涉民族主義、安全、移民、勞動與全球經濟等面向——如何塑造或反過來受到酷兒與跨性別經驗的影響。強調地緣政治同時也使我們必須反思：在更廣泛的霸權衝突所塑造的研究視角下，如何透過這些理論方法來分析性／別議題及其知識論內涵。

過去，華語語系研究主要著重於文學與文化分析，而本工作坊旨在拓展該領域，強調社會科學對其的重要貢獻。透過多學科觀點的融合，本次活動試圖闡明社會、政治和經濟力量如何形構華語語系酷兒與跨性別群體的生活實態。如此一來，不僅能擴大華語語系研究的範疇，也有助於深化華語語系理論框架與酷兒方法論之間的理論對話。本工作坊邀請參與者共同審視在各種情境下，權力、身份與歸屬的交織，促進人文與社會科學領域的動態交流，並且回應當代緊迫的議題。

Queer Sinophone Studies and the Question of Geopolitics engages with the intricate intersections of queer theory, Sinophone studies, and the shifting dynamics of geopolitics in the Asia-Pacific region, with particular attention to Taiwan, Hong Kong, the People’s Republic of China, the United States, and beyond. This interdisciplinary workshop seeks to convene scholars from Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, History, Media Studies, and Cultural Studies to investigate the formation of emergent queer and transgender subjectivities amid intensifying geopolitical tensions. As a critical framework, Queer Sinophone studies disrupts Sinocentric paradigms and North American-dominated models of gender and sexuality, offering a vital platform for rethinking knowledge production. This workshop foregrounds geopolitics as a critical axis for examining how cross-national and interregional power struggles—particularly those linked to nationalism, security, migration, labor, and global economies—shape and are influenced by queer and transgender experiences. The emphasis on geopolitics also prompts a reflexive interrogation of the methodological and epistemological implications of analyzing gender and sexuality through lenses shaped by broader hegemonic conflicts.

While Sinophone studies has traditionally found its primary articulation in literary and cultural analysis, this workshop aims to extend its reach by emphasizing the contributions of the social sciences. By integrating perspectives from multiple disciplines, the event aspires to illuminate the ways in which social, political, and economic forces inform the lived realities of Sinophone queer and transgender subjects. In doing so, it seeks to foster innovative dialogues that not only broaden the scope of Sinophone studies but also deepen the theoretical engagement between Sinophone frameworks and queer methodologies. This workshop invites participants to interrogate the intersections of power, identity, and belonging across diverse contexts, facilitating a dynamic exchange that bridges the humanities and social sciences while addressing the pressing questions of our time.
