The purpose of the Award is to encourage junior researchers in Taiwan to publish papers that have the significance, innovation, and intellectual depth to make a lasting impact in their research fields. At most five awards are given annually in each of the following divisions of intellectual endeavors: Mathematics and Physical Sciences; Life Sciences; and Humanities and Social Sciences.
At most five awards are given annually. The winners will receive a certificate and a cash award of NT$300,000 (about US$9,000). The latter is intended to be used for expenditures in the awardeeˇ¦s research within the two years following the recipient of the award. The award can also be shared by collaborators who have made the contribution jointly.
Only individuals who are holding a non-tenured position are eligible for the award.
The winners will be recognized at an open award ceremony presided by the President of Academia Sinica. Each awardee will make a presentation on his/her prize-winning work.

An individual may either apply personally or be nominated by a senior colleague or a mentor. A cover letter and reprints of the three most important publications on a single topic authored or coauthored by the individual in peer-reviewed journals should be send in four copies to the Office of Academic Affairs, Academia Sinica by October 1st. A list of the applicant or nomineeˇ¦s publication list within the past five years should also accompany the application or nomination.

Based on the reviews, the Committee will recommend the winners to the President of Academia Sinica for selection as finalists.
