結合獨特的細菌醣質化學合成加上重組蛋白的生產與結構解析
研究 - 噬菌體的蛋白作為傳染性疾病之醣質快篩診斷和醣酵素的產業應用。
噬菌體是一種具高專一性且能殺死細菌的病毒，藉由其表面蛋白去辨認細菌的醣質，入侵並破壞特定的細菌,因此噬菌體號稱能拯救人類的病毒。
本研究，結合特有的醣質化學合成與重組蛋白的結構解析，去快速篩選噬菌體的醣結合蛋白。由於噬菌體藉由醣結合蛋白辨認特定的細菌。此研究能夠作為快篩試劑應用於細菌病原的診斷，另外可能應用在噬菌體治療傳染性疾病。實驗室成員除了利用分子生物學，負責重組蛋白質的生產與外，更有機會學習蛋白質QA/QC和高階蛋白質結構解析技術外，更有機會學習，冷凍電顯結構解析。

The Todd Lowary & Joseph Ho Laboratory at the Institute of Biochemical Sciences, Academia Sinica in Taipei is seeking a master-level research assistant or post-doc to join our team. Our research focuses on the prevention/diagnosis of infectious diseases and the development of related industrial applications, combining unique bacterial carbohydrate chemistry with recombinant protein production and phage structural analysis.
The successful candidate will work on a project investigating bacteriophages, viruses that are highly specific and can kill bacteria. By identifying the bacterial carbohydrates through their surface proteins, bacteriophages can invade and destroy specific bacteria. Our research combines unique carbohydrate chemistry synthesis with structural analysis of recombinant proteins to quickly screen for bacteriophage glycan-binding proteins.

The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for research, the ability to work independently, strong communication skills, and a willingness to learn. Prior experience in molecular cloning, protein purification, and structural biology is preferred. Preference will be given to those who plan to apply for the doctoral program in the future.
