This document is the hypertext version of my guide that lists the many resources for economists on the Internet. I try to list material of use to academic and practicing economists, and those interested in economics. For more broadly defined business resources, I list several guides in the section titled USEFUL BOOKS, PROGRAMS, AND RESOURCES ABOUT THE INTERNET

Here you can find the complete Table of Contents (a version with just the main section headings is below), the introduction to this guide, the conventions used here, a shortcut to every non-email resource on a single page, and the entire ASCII version of this guide, so you can easily obtain your own copy (warning: it is more than 200K in size). Finally, you can read summary information on major new items in this issue. However, please note that all these sections can be found below with the main section headings, and in the complete Table of Contents.

Please note:

I have slightly changed the numbering scheme for each issue. Rather than just a number, I now use a volume and an issue. However, to be somewhat conistent, the volume numbers continue from before. Thus, the last issue was number 8, and this one is volume 1, number 9.
New resources in this issue are denoted with a + in the first column of the title or mailing list, while significant changes to resources previously mentioned are denoted with a * in the title of that resource and this sort of type denotes the actual changes in that section (for mailing lists, sometimes the change only involves a change in the type of software used).
I have kept the design of this html version as close as possible to the ASCII version of my guide. In particular, you'll see the URLs for a resource listed after my description of the resource. While this is not very traditional for an html document, it does seem to make sense in this context. If you're using Lynx, the link will be shown as a #; with graphical browsers such as Mosaic, AirMosaic, or Netscape, it will be a small button.
However, in the shortcut section, the more traditional "click on a name" method is used.
For Lynx users, there might be a bit of confusion with characters preceding the names of headings. I use a * to denote a section that has changed since the last issue, and a + to denote a new section. Lynx uses these to denote sections headings, so sometimes you'll see double * or double +.
I use some very small images (gifs, to be specific) in the navigation panels, and as clickable links, to improve the look with graphical browsers. To maintain top performance, you might wish to be sure that you have enabled caching with your browser. However, if you do not wish to use these gifs (or if you use Lynx), alternate text links are automatically used in their place.
