  7. Visa:
    Valid visa for the Republic of China can be obtained from the R.O.C. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and R.O.C. embassies, consulates or designated representative offices in foreign countries.

    (a) Landing Visa: 30-Day Stay

    Passengers with passports of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America are eligible for applying landing visas. Requirements are: (a) confirmed onward airline ticket, (b) passport good for at least 6 months, (c) no record of law violation, and (d) one photo and NT$ 1,500 as visa fee. Landing visa is not extendible and is only valid for a single entry of 30-day stay.
    (b) 14-Day Non-Visa Entry
    A 14-day non-visa entry applies only for passport bearers of the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Requirements are: (a) confirmed onward airline ticket, (b) passport good for at least 6 months, (c) no record of law violation. Non-visa entry is not extendible.

    (c) Method of Payment:
    Those who wish to attend the Joint Meeting and/or Tutorial should submit the registration form either through the Web or via fax. The full registration fee can be paid by wire transfer or by credit card to the Secretariat. If you have a credit card, we prefer that you use it to pay. If paying by credit card, please fax the complete registration form (make sure to fill out the payment section and sign) to the Secretariat. According to Taiwan's law, the credit card cannot be charged without card owner's signature.

    (d) Confirmation:
    The registration will become valid upon receipt of a confirmation letter from the Secretariat.
    (e) Cancellation:
    Cancellations should be made in writing to the Secretariat. 50% of registration fee will be refunded if a written cancellation is made before December 31, 1998. No refunds can be made for cancellations received after December 31, 1998. All refund will be processed after the meeting is over.
  9. Hotel Reservation:
    Participants may make a reservation themselves by contacting the hotel representative directly or fill out the hotel reservation form, the Secretariat will complete the reservation.

    The Secretariat will set up a PNC counter at the lobby of Arrival Hall of the CKS Airport from January 17 to 20. Those who would like to take the Meeting Shuttle Bus, please contact our staff at the PNC counter.

    It costs approximately NT$1,200 to get to Taipei (around 1,500 to get to the Academia Sinica) from the CKS Airport by taxi. The rate for taxis in Taipei is NT$ 70 for the first 1.65 kilometers and NT$ 5 for each additional 350 meters. A 20% surcharge is added between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. and a "waiting surcharge" for each 3 minute is added when the taxis are stopped or traveled less than 5 kilometers per hour. Different rates apply in other areas.
